Lubrication Methods
  • Manual application
  • Semi automatic application
  • Fully automatic application
  • No one method is appropriate for all applications

  • A balance of all three methods is usually most suitable

Why Automate?
Manual Lubrication has some major limitations
  • Cost of labor
  • Reliability of application
  • Contamination of equipment between lubrication intervals

The cost of manually applying grease is mostly labor

  • Total cost of U$0.70 re-apply
  • Grease cost of U$0.10 re-apply
  • Labor cost of U$0.60 re-apply
  • 2.5 minutes per application

Industry is rapidly Changing

  • Less people to do same work
  • Increased production demands
  • Multi skilled staff environment greater risk of getting it wrong
Lubrication Systems
Again, no one system suits all applications
A mixture of all system types is usually required, dependent on bearing requirements (e.g. back-pressure, distance, etc.)
Single Point Lubricators
  • Suitable where points are apart from each other and power supply is not readily available
  • Suitable where cap-ex funding for automatic systems is difficult
  • Unsuitable where high dispensing pressures are required
Streamliner Limitations
  • SINGLE point lubricator
  • Low pressure capability
  • Expensive for many points compared to automatic systems in close proximity

  • Requires application knowledge
